Resource Allocation in Mental Health
The Centre for Welfare Reform has published a discussion paper outlining the case for one integrated resource allocation system for mental health services - bringing together health and social care funding in one individual budget. Current efforts to develop more personalised support in mental health services are undermined by:
- The incoherence of the health/social care divide in mental health
- The imbalance between NHS and local authority funding
- Competing and confusing methodologies
There is an important opportunity to create a more coherent system and piloting of this new approach is about to begin in Yorkshire & Humber.
