Festival of Debate: April to June 2018

Founded in 2015, Festival of Debate is a series of panel discussions, debates, Q&As, artistic responses, keynote speeches and other public events in Sheffield, exploring politics, economics and society in 2018.

Festival of Debate is coordinated by not-for-profit company Opus Independents in collaboration with over 40 partner organisations across the city. This year's programme takes place in April, May and June and features over 70 events of all shapes and sizes.

This year's Festival strands are: 

  • Culture, Self & Identity
  • Democracy & Activism
  • Fairness & Equality
  • Futures
  • Science & Environment

The Centre will be actively involved in 4 events during the Festival:

  • 2nd May - Money for Nothing: should we all get a basic income? 
  • 17th May - Democracy Across Seven Hills: giving communities a say in Sheffield
  • 6th June - UBI Lab Sheffield: exploring basic income in Sheffield
  • 26th June - What Kind of NHS Do We Really Want?
