Claire Winfield

Claire trained as a Youth and Community Worker and since graduating in 1992 has spent all of her working life in Human Services. Her work has been with homeless young people, young people leaving care, people with learning disabilities and people who use mental health services. Previously she was Chief Executive of the Amber Trust, a third sector organisation providing housing and related person centred support.

Having worked in variety of roles and organisations her passion lies very much around housing and support. A believer in home being ‘where the heart is’ she has worked hard to promote Supported Living and to work alongside people and their families to ensure people get to choose where they live and who (if anyone) they live with.

In her role as Director of Consultancy with Paradigm, Claire led on the Reach Standards for Supported Living and on provider organisation development. Much of her work was focused on supporting community and provider organisations to develop their approach to helping people with personal budgets to think through what good support means to them and assisting them to get the right supports in place.

Claire has recently taken up the post of Chief Executive at Sight Support Derbyshire, an organisation that provides a wide range of support services to blind and partially sighted people.

Claire has a BA Honours degree in Community Studies, a management qualification and is an alumna of the Windsor Leadership Trust.

Claire lives with her partner in Derbyshire and having the Peak District close by likes to walk (though admits to being a ‘fair-weather walker’). She loves anything to do with food including shopping for it, cooking it and eating it with friends and family!
